This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Waterford, we’ll conclude Isaiah’s historical interlude with chapters 38 and 39. These passages shift from national crisis to personal trial as King Hezekiah faces a deadly illness. At first, pride blinds him—but when he humbles himself in prayer, God mercifully restores his life and extends his years. Yet later, Hezekiah’s pride resurfaces when he foolishly flaunts his wealth to Babylon, opening the door to Judah’s future downfall.

This text presses us to ask: How do we respond when God tests our hearts—in times of suffering, in answered prayer, and in seasons of blessing? Hezekiah shows us both the danger of pride and the necessity of humility. God is after our repentance, because only then can He pour out mercy, extend grace, and guard us against destruction. Join us Sunday as we apply these truths to our own walk with Christ.
