This Sunday at Calvary Chapel Waterford, we’ll be in Isaiah 31–32, where God confronts Judah’s misplaced trust in Egypt. Though desperate under the threat of Assyria, Judah turned to the world for protection instead of the Lord who had already rescued them from Egypt. Isaiah makes it plain: alliances with ungodly powers are not only foolish but offensive to God. Egypt was weak, untrustworthy, and godless—yet Judah still leaned on them. The lesson for us is clear. Where do we turn when pressure closes in? Do we look first to the Lord, or do we run to worldly solutions—money, influence, self-help, or even good things we’ve turned into idols? Isaiah reminds us: God alone is our strength. Like a roaring lion and a hovering eagle, He fights for His people and shelters those who trust Him. Join us this Sunday as we learn to place our confidence in Him alone.
